Five on Friday

Today I'm linking up with Darci, Natasha, Christina and April for this week's edition of Five on Friday. I always read EVERYONE's post so I figured I would participate.

One.
I went to the doctor for my "yearly" check up and had high blood pressure for the second year in a row. I'm talking 140ish/90ish. I will admit that I hadn't eaten anything that morning and had guzzled 3 cups of coffee (my appt. was at 9:30 a.m.) but it still shouldn't have been that high. My doc wants to me to pay more attention to my sodium intake and increase my workouts. I've been doing this for two weeks and have lost around 5lbs now I just need to take my blood pressure. Keep your fingers crossed that it's come down. High blood pressure and heart issues run in my family but I'm determined to try everything so I don't have to be on medicine.

Two.
I've embarked on a new adventure/opportunity to help pay off some debt and helps others along the way. It couldn't have come at a better time. It'll require a blog post of its own. If your my Facebook friend you already know what this is. Momma Kim is even embarking on this journey with me! Love
when the Lord answers prayers.

Three.
It's official we're getting the inside of our house painted the week of Thanksgiving. I can't tell you how excited I am about this. It's been a long time coming. Having someone paint your walls isn't cheap folks! We've decided on Revere Pewter for the common areas like the hallways, living room and dining room and then Buxton Blue for the Master Bedroom and a shade lighter for our master bath. They are both Benjamin Moore colors. Next on our list is painting some furniture that was given to me and ordering our new sectional. I've been scouting the Macy's Thanksgiving and Black Friday Sales Ads. Then hanging pictures. I can't wait to show the after pictures and also having fiends over to enjoy it!!!

This is Revere Pewter

Four.
I just want to brag on my husband. I wouldn't be the person I am now without him. He brings out the good in me and has built my confidence up over the past 8 years. He supports me in everything I do with only a "little" bit of skepticism. And he is the best dad to our angel bear Mable. Gosh, I love that man!

Five.
It's Friday....that in itself is amazing. We don't have a bunch of plans. My cousins' 3rd birthday party is tomorrow and we might go to dinner with one of my Besties and her "friend" tonight but other than that I plan on cozying up with my new book and enjoying being with my little family!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Weekend Recap

Here's a recap of last weekend. Although it's almost next weekend. Friday night was super low key. Jared and I have found a little hidden gem on Summer Avenue. There is a taco truck at Summer and Mendenhall and it's absolutely delicious...and cheap! All of my East Memphis friends should definitely try it out ASAP.

Saturday ended up being filled with tons of friends and babies. We made the trek up to Tipton County to see one of Jared's Best Friends from high school baby. Ella was an angel an only got fussy when she was hungry or wet. I could've held her ALL day. I also was the first person Jeremy her dad didn't get on to for holding her incorrectly, SCORE! I guess all those years of babysitting finally paid off.

Already giving the CBF.

While we were hanging out I texted my other friend who had just moved to the country to see how far it was to her house and what she was doing. Well 20 minutes later we were at her house and ended up going out for Mexican for her Birthday with a few other couples and their kiddos. We killed two birds with one stone. I still don't understand why people would move so far away??? I'm definitely a city girl. Hour long drives to work are for the birds.

Here are some pics from dinner. BTW my friends make the cutest kids which results in the worst case of Baby Fever afterwards!

This is my friend Christi's little boy Jake. He was so much fun!!

Here's Baby Charlie...the Birthday Girl's little boy.

Can you spot the horrible hair in the back ground? I was pretending to take a pic of Brad to capture that amazing tease job. It looked like a bird's nest!

There's Christi and her broke fingers. She broke them "practicing" for the alum vs. active Alpha Gam Flag Football game. #brokefingerdontcare

Such a sweet moment.

Happy Birthday Julie!!!!

Fuzzy Mustache...there were so many inappropriate jokes made about this. He was so proud of his mustache!

Another shot of that amazing stache!

The Ables

Sunday we got up and headed downtown and had breakfast at Ms. Cordelia's then took Mable on a long walk by the river. It was an ABSOLUTELY beautiful day out. I don't know who enjoyed it more us or Mable.

Can you find J and Mable Anne?

My two loves!

Action Shot.

Mable's dream.....tons of sticks and leaves all connected.

I was trying to be "artsy" with our shadows.

Nashville Weekend

Last month we ventured to Nashville to visit our friends The Laysons and attend the "Jorts and Chicken" Party. Let's just say it was one of the best parties ever and we the boys determined their shorts and outfits were too long and WAY too conservative. We're already planning for next year. If you want to see more pictures from the party check out their website!

We took the day off of work Friday and left early that morning so we could shop and not be rushed. I couldn't go to Nashville without hitting up Trader Joe's and the Green Hills Mall. We ate lunch at Cheesecake factory...Yum!

That night we ventured to East Nashville and had dinner at Rose Pepper. They seriously have the best food and margaritas!!! The ride home was very interesting. We relied on the iPhone GPS. What should have taken us about 10-15 mins ended up being about 45! Thanks Scott for putting up with Sarah and Jared's directions. We ended the night with a serious game of Quelf. If you haven't played it run don't walk to the store and purchase it ASAP!

Quelf...sooo much fun!

Snuggling with my buddy Max.

One of the reasons I loved this game.....

Let's just say that the night ended with Sarah beating some girl in a dance off and the girls sleeping in one bed and the boys in another! Sooo much fun! Can't wait for our next trip to Nashvegas!

Race Recap: Cooper Young 4 Miler

Last Friday night was the Cooper Young 4 Miler. It's one of my favorite races in Memphis for many reasons. One being that it's on a Friday night so I don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday morning. The second reason is that it probably has the best spectators ever! The course loops through the CY neighborhood and most people have parties in their front yards and yell and cheer the runners on the whole time! Jared's family and my family came and cheered Ashlee and I on from the patio of Celtic Crossing which works well for them because we pass by there twice during the race. i wish I had more race pictures but I haven't mastered running and taking pics at the same time. I did however improve my race time tremendously. I'm shooting for 8 minute miles next year!

Race Results
Time: 36:09.72
Pace: 9:02/mile
Age Group Rank: 52
